Department of Tourism and Marketing

The Department of Tourism and Marketing has been operating at the Institute of Technology and Business in České Budějovice since April 2014. It currently provides for the teaching of four significant specializations within the field of - Marketing, Business Enterprise, Tourism and Chinese markets for the bachelor level of study of Business Economics. Concept of specialization is based on the requirements of employers and long-term intention of Institute of Technology and Business in České Budějovice. When delivering undergraduate program and various specializations, emphasis is placed on linking theoretical knowledge with practical application in solving specific problems, case studies, student projects, etc. That is why the cooperation with real businesses is established.

The head of the department is Ing. Marie Slabá, Ph.D.

Department of Management

The Department of Management of The Faculty of Corporate Strategy at The Institute of Technology and Business in České Budějovice was founded on the 1st of July 2015. It provides education and research activities in the economic management field and other art and social studies. Among the key subjects, which are provided by the department members, are Business Management, Human Resources Management, Strategic Management, Personnel Management, Management of Change, Innovation Management, Motivation and Stimulation. They provide the Methodology of Professional Training subject for the entire Institute of Technology and Business in České Budějovice as well. The department members also teach subjects in English, such as Project for Economists, Business Management and Business Ethics. 

The department has scientific and pedagogical collaborators at important Czech universities and in Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, China, Poland, Russia, Slovakia etc. as well. The department also pays attention to over the border cooperation, since it strives for more intense cooperation with Austrian and German institutions.

The head of the department is doc. PhDr. František Stellner, Ph.D.

 

Department of Foreign Languages

The Department of Foreign Languages mainly teaches foreign languages and has been a fundamental part of VŠTE from its very beginning. The department provides language education for all current study programmes at VŠTE with both economical and technical specializations. It also provides personnel for related language courses for the Lifelong Education Centre. Its team is made up of a group of qualified and experienced workers who are continually extending their education. Several native speakers also work for the department. The department also actively participates in the creative and project activities of the school. It does so by actively cooperating with other departments and sections, not only of its alma mater, but of other domestic and foreign universities as well.

The head of the department is PhDr. Jan Gregor, Ph.D.

Department of Economics

The Department of Economics operating at the Institute of Business Strategy of the Institute of Technology and Economics in České Budějovice was founded after the division of the former Department of Economics and Management on July 1, 2015. The main activity of the Department of Economics is to provide instruction (teaching) and creative activities in the field of economics, accounting and business economics. The Head of the Department of Economics is Ing. Lukáš Polanecký.

Pedagogical activities:

The main objective of the Department of Economics (KE) in the educational activity is to provide students with necessary theoretical basis of economic knowledge, emphasis on issues that significantly contribute to the employability of graduates in the labor market. In the educational process, the Department of Economics will focus on theoretical foundations for applied economics discipline and teaching of applied economic subjects. The main subjects taught include Business Economics, Economic Theory, which covers previously taught Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Investment Management, Inventory Management, Financial Accounting, Administration and Corporate Information Systems. When teaching, modern tools of education support will be used,, such as audiovisual aids or graphical and mathematical models. The learning process will be often enriched by lectures of external experts.

The newly accredited Business Administration within the study program Economics and Management should to ensure that graduates thoroughly know all the primary and secondary functions of the company and will be subsequently specialized in a business position in a selected company by them.

Research activity:

In the scientific field research of the Department of Economics will focus on the following issues: economic stability of businesses or regions, cost management and economic performance of enterprises, effective use of production factors, the labor market in the region, the Czech Republic in comparison with the foreign market.

The Department of Economics will seek involvement in the operational program Research, Development and Education (OP VVV), which will include programming period 2014-2020 and where it can draw funds from the EU Structural Funds (center investments in micro-region center optimization of procurement processes of the company, center administration building).

Department of subject specific didactics

The Department was established on July 1, 2016 and it is a part of the Institute of Corporate Strategy. It is headed by Assoc. Mgr. Lenka Hrušková, Ph.D., its representative is Ing. Daniel Kučerka, PhD.


The Department will provide its students with a comprehensive education focused on subject specific didactic component within the education of professionally specialized technicians, economists and teachers of technical and economic subjects. It will also offer other specialized courses through the Centre for Lifelong Education.


The Department plans to prepare the accreditation of the study programme The Secondary School Teaching (N7504), of the field of study The Special Education Teacher Training (7504T100). The study programme will be possible to complete in parallel with the regular study undertaken at institutions of VŠTE, or after the graduating the economically or technically oriented bachelor's, master's degree in technical universities and colleges. The study provides the graduates the theoretical knowledge in pedagogy, psychology, didactics of vocational subjects and other disciplines related to the teaching of vocational subjects in secondary vocational and higher vocational schools and secondary vocational apprentice schools. When developing the curricula there will be distinguished four basic components of teacher training (subject specific, field-didactic, pedagogical and psychological, reflected teaching practice) that are common for the preparation of teachers of all types and levels of schools.


Further, the Department intends to prepare the accreditation of a study programme Specialization in Education (B7507), of the Study field Teaching of practical subjects and vocational training (7507R056). It will be a bachelor's degree course designed for graduates of technical and economically oriented fields of secondary education with GCSE (economic, agricultural, mechanical, electrical, construction and other engineering and related disciplines) who exercise or prospectively consider the qualified employment in a function of a teacher of practical training or teacher of vocational training.


The Department seeks to strengthen relations with vocational high schools, particularly in the South Czech Region. As one of the four fundamental components of teacher training it is the reflected pedagogical practice in secondary vocational schools, schools and colleges which facilitate the contacts between the student of teaching with an educational reality in schools and it will contribute to their professional socialization. The emphasis will be focused on the reflection of practical experience, both within the subject specific and other subject specific-didactic component of studies, and in the pedagogical-psychological component. Practice will be designed as an integrated and graduating system with the emphasis on linking with theory and on reflection and self- reflection of a student teacher´s role.


The Department intends to accredit the subject Professional reflected teaching practice, which will be common for a bachelor's and master's degree course.
